Target accounts
Lists of companies you want to know about the moment one of them shows up. When a visitor's company is recognised from the network they browse from and it is on a list, the Target account visits notification fires, and a lead from that company carries a Target list line in every alert. The lists are plain names, entered by hand, matched exactly.
Where it lives
Settings → Apps → Meeton ai → Accounts → Target Accounts. The page is hidden for customer-support funnels. A banner at the top reminds you that lists here drive the target-account notifications, with a link to set those up under Notifications.
Target accounts and target account lists come from account-based marketing (ABM), where sales and marketing agree on a named set of companies to pursue. Intent is the same buyer-intent idea used elsewhere in these docs: behaviour that suggests someone is evaluating.
Creating a list
- New Target Account List
Creates a list straight away, named New Target List 1, as an expandable panel. Rename it in List name.
- Paste company names
One company name per line into Company names. On save, names are trimmed, blank lines dropped and duplicates removed. A chip shows the count, and the panel shows the list's ID.
- Save
The button enables once something changed. Delete removes the whole list after a confirmation.
- Exact names. Matching compares the recognised company's name with your entries character for character. Enter the name the way the network registry spells it, which for Japanese companies is usually the registered legal name (株式会社〇〇), and add common variants (with and without the corporate suffix, English and Japanese forms) as separate lines.
- No limits on the number of lists or the length of a list; large lists are saved in chunks.
- Not available: CSV upload, domain-based matching, or import from HubSpot or Salesforce company lists. Paste names from your CRM export instead.
How a visitor is matched
The lookup resolves the network the visitor browses from to an organisation. Home, mobile and VPN connections resolve to a carrier or nothing, so target-account alerts are about visitors on office networks.
| Event | Match on | Fires |
|---|---|---|
| Target account visits | The company recognised from the visitor's network, compared with every list | On each new session from a matching company. Not deduplicated, so a busy account can alert several times a day. |
| Target account shows high intent | The company the visitor typed into a form, compared with every list | Once, when that known visitor's engagement score first crosses 70 out of 100. |
| New lead · Lead returns · Lead opens a key page | The company on the lead's form | As usual, with a Target list: … line added when it matches. |
Target lists are used for notifications only. They do not change what the chat agent says, flag the visitor on the dashboard, or affect ads, email or CRM sync. The Lookalike accounts and Target list insights panels under Sales insights are separate analyses and do not read these lists.
What the alert contains
Company, then the person's name, title, department and email where known, the list that matched, the visitor ID and a link to the visitor's timeline. The high-intent variant adds the intent score. Turn the two events on in a ruleset that delivers to the people who should act on them, typically the account owners' Slack channel.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A target company visited but nothing fired | The visitor was on a home, mobile or VPN connection, so no company was recognised; or the name differs from your entry | Check the Companies view for how the company was recognised and copy that spelling into the list. |
| Nothing ever fires | No ruleset has Target account visits on, or it has no destination | Open Notifications and turn the event on in a ruleset with a destination. |
| Too many alerts from one account | Each new session alerts | Route the event to a dedicated channel, or rely on Target account shows high intent, which fires once per visitor. |
| High intent never fires | It needs a known visitor whose form company matches a list and whose score reaches 70 | Expected for anonymous visitors. It is a signal about leads, not about traffic. |
| The page is missing from Settings | The funnel is a customer-support agent | Target accounts are a sales feature; use an AI SDR funnel. |
Frequently asked questions
Can we match on domains or email addresses instead of names?
Not today. Matching is by company name, either the one recognised from the network or the one the visitor typed into a form.
Does the chat agent know a visitor is from a target account?
No. The agent is told the visitor's recognised company, if any, but target-list membership is not part of its context. The alert goes to your team so a person can step in.
Where does the company recognition come from?
A lookup of the network the visitor's connection belongs to, resolved to an organisation. It is not personal data, and the visitor is not identified by it; see Data & security.
How big can a list be?
There is no cap. A few hundred names per list is normal; lists are saved in chunks of 500.
