General

The first step of Settings → Meeton AI → Chat: who the agent is, what a visitor sees first, and the buttons around the conversation. Every change is reflected in the live preview beside the form.

Identity

The persona this agent presents: its name, photo and job title. The name and greeting are auto-translated for visitors browsing in another language when auto-translate is on; your saved text stays as written.

Welcome message

What a visitor sees first, plus the reply buttons under that message.

Welcome message
The first thing a visitor sees when the chat opens.
Reply buttons
Shown under the welcome message only. A tap sends the text as the visitor's message, and the buttons go away. Book a demo, Integrations?, Just looking.

Page-specific messages

A visitor on a matching page sees this message, and its reply buttons, instead of the set above.

  • Type a path (/pricing) to match on every domain the chat is installed on, or paste a full URL (https://careers.example.com/jobs) to match on that site only. Match on starts with or is exactly.
  • A rule can also require URL parameters such as utm_campaign, so the same landing page can greet each campaign differently. Only shown when the page URL carries all of them; values are compared ignoring case.
  • When more than one rule matches, the most specific wins: a rule naming a domain, then path plus parameters, then path only, then parameters only.

AI suggested replies

Reply buttons under every AI answer, written by the AI for that moment: up to 3 tappable replies the visitor may have to the message. This saves the visitor typing and tends to increase engagement. The product's own recommendation is to keep it on.

Conversation starters

Buttons above the input box, there for the whole chat, whatever the conversation. Replies to a specific message belong to that message: the welcome message's reply buttons, or the AI's own. Booking and materials are not starters either; they are the calendar and Library shortcuts, set under Theme.

Proactive messages

The agent can open the conversation itself. It is given all the context there is on each visitor and chooses the most relevant greeting for their stage of the journey:

AudienceWhen
Anonymous visitorsWho have browsed at least 3 pages.
LeadsKnown leads on return visits, to encourage booking a meeting.
Meeting bookedVisitors with an upcoming meeting, offering to help.
Existing customersRelationship-maintenance messages.

Two guard rails keep it polite: a cooldown, the minimum time before re-engaging the same visitor, and max silent attempts, which stops re-sending once a visitor has ignored that many messages. With no hard stop, the cooldown doubles after each unanswered message, up to 8 hours. The placed version of this, tied to a path through your site, is the proactive-chat format in Meeton Ads.
